My new Stradivari model cello!
My new Stradivari model cello!
Cello made in Ravenna in 2020 by luthier Marco Minnozzi, based in the model "forma B piccola" from Antonio Stradivari.
The "forma B piccola" model was one of the last models created by Stradivari, designed with soloists in mind.
As you can see in the photos, it's smaller and thinner than other cello models; it makes technical aspects of interpretation easier and gives excellent high notes. It's a model well suited for late baroque and the start of classicism, particularly for soloists.
It isn't a baroque cello as such; the neck's angle is a bit higher than the usual baroque cello, which makes the tension also higher and allows the cello to sound louder. Besides, the fingerboard is a bit longer, and this makes it easier to play high notes.
