"Hello! My name is Michael Form, and I'm the artistic director of the ensemble Aux Pieds du Roy, a group of then musicians from France, Switzerland, Germany, Holland, Japan, and Korea.

We gathered here in the idyllic St. Pantaleon in the Kanton of Solothurn in Switzerland to realize a very exciting CD project entitled Bach's Labyrinth.

Outstanding Bach researchers have had groundbreaking insights into the creation of the ensemble music by Johann Sebastian Bach.  

Bach's Labyrint is an attempt to harvest this work's fruits and put them into artistic practice. 

With a deeper understanding of Bach's music, we tried to open up a reconstructed dimension with a deeper understanding of the original music. 

When Bach took over the Leipzig College Musikum, which had been founded by Georg Phillip Telemann in 1729, he suddenly needed a large number of instrumental music for the popular concerts in Gottfried Zimmermann's coffee house, for which he party drew on repertoire that he had acquired many years earlier during his work in Weimar and Köthen.

Bach composed small chamber concerts, so-called concerts de camera as virtuoso harpsichord concerts with string accompaniment; the famous Brandenburg concerts also underwent multiple changes before they could be dedicated to the Brandenburg Duke Christian Ludwig in 1721. 

Our selection of works draws its exciting dramaturgy from the juxtaposition of well-founded musicological reconstructions and speculative transcriptions in cases where a precise restoration of the original versions is impossible due to the incomplete source situation. 

This CD project for the Pan Classics label represents the last part of our Bach trilogy, already twice awarded with a Diapason d'Or".
